Course 1 (Duration 1 day)
How to Save Time on P.E Administration and Planning in all Areas
of Primary P.E.
This is a one day course for P.E. Co-ordinators and School Sports Co-ordinators who wish to revise and standardise practice and policy in their school clusters for Key Stage 1 and / or Key Stage 2. It is also suitable for reviewing planning, assessing, recording, reporting, policy writing and Minimum Expected Standards throughout the P.E. curriculum.
The Course Contents:
Reviewing PE Policies and Procedures
- Outlining the policies that should be in place.
- Detailed discussion of their content.
- Specific examples of good practice.
Planning and Organising the PE Curriculum
- Long term planning – time entitlement and breadth and
balance.
- Medium term planning – unit framework, learning objectives
and expected learning outcomes.
- Short term planning.
Health and Safety Issues
- Opportunities to bring your Health and Safety procedures and
policies up to date.
- Addressing a range of issues including handling
apparatus, jewellery,
PE kit and risk assessment.
Simple and Manageable Assessment
- What do we assess, when and how
- Looking at simple systems for
recording pupil performance in physical education
The course guides participants through the issues
overleaf involved in the management and administration of the P.E.
curriculum and
enables the setting and maintaining of high standards. Course
members will receive advice and have opportunities to discuss
a range of
related topics. As part of the course all members

Inspector for both

Neil has taught physical education in secondary schools since 1975 and developed courses in outdoor education, fitness and social aspects of PE whilst being head of department in a London comprehensive. Neil continued to teach PE as a deputy headteacher and coached the 1st XV rugby team as well as developing a residential curriculum for the school. As headteacher of an inner city technology college he continued with the outdoor education and residential education to enrich the curriculum.
