With a total of 76 lesson plans (40 dances & 40 tracks of music on 3 CDs) in Reception & Key Stage 1 (4-7 years), and 137 lesson plans (49 dances and 195 tracks of music on 6 CDs) in Key Stage 2 (7-11 years), Primary School teachers need never be without exciting material for their dances!
Everything you need is in this complete scheme of work for Primary School Dance (4-11 years). The lesson plans are written in great detail so they can be used immediately as they stand, or adapted to suit the expertise or teaching style of the teacher or the attitude and ability of the class and the music has been especially created to accompany the dances.
These manuals follow the same comprehensive and user-friendly structure as the Val Sabin Games, Gymnastics and Athletics schemes of work. The teaching guide gives practical advice on planning, teaching styles and strategies, choosing and using stimuli for dance, accompaniment movement material and composing, performing and appreciating dances. Dances are linked to National Curriculum & Q.C.A. guidance and assessment sheets are included.
At the rear of the manual there is a section of photocopiable resources linked to the dances.
There is also in the introduction, a break-down of International Education levels and ages to increase it's user-friendliness in countries other than the UK.
This is a most comprehensive and user-friendly manual for teachers of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 dance. The 11 units of work contain 64 "phases" of learning and development (or session plans) that progress and develop 11 dances through 108 tracks of music set out on 11 CDs. There is also a complete section of the introduction devoted to warm-up and cool down, which includes 7 warm-ups to music and stretching cards. The appendix includes 44 accompanying photocopiable cards.
To cater for the very different teaching styles or levels of experience of teachers delivering dance, the phases of learning are presented in varying degrees of detail, so teachers can choose the one they feel most comfortable with. This ranges from teachers following the detailed guidance as it is presented - right through to using the music and the type of movement suggested and creating their own interpretation.
